This mission begins in September 2010 and provides weekend food for students in the Sharon City School District that receive free or reduced priced meals at school during the week. The first group of students is from Case Avenue Elementary School. During the week, volunteers fill special backpacks with food from the Community Food Warehouse that is ready-made or easy to prepare. Students take home the backpacks on Friday and return them on Monday.
This mission is a partnership between First Church and Covenant Presbyterian Church (263 E. State Street, Sharon).
To all mission teams and team leaders- the new time for all teams to report each Tuesday is 6:30 PM. We will work with Grace Chapel and Covenant to pack all 212 bag for the week— rest assured that we get them all done in about 30 minutes!
On May 31st we will have an end of the school year celebration with all the members of all the teams! We will all pack the bags for that week followed by some fun, food, and fellowship. Everything will start that week at 6:30!
